Principal - Meeting Street Academy, Spartanburg
Kyndran is a native of Spartanburg, SC, and is a proud graduate of Spartanburg School District 7, the very district in which she now serves. After high school, Kyndran attended the University of South Carolina-Columbia and received a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish and Education. She began teaching at Rockbridge Elementary in Gwinnett County on the outskirts of Atlanta, Georgia while attending a dual program with Teach for America and Georgia State University where she earned a Master’s degree in Teaching and Instruction.
After teaching at Rockbridge for a number of years, Kyndran made the decision to move back home to Spartanburg to join Meeting Street Schools and serve the community that had given so much to her and her family. In 2013, Kyndran joined the MSS family as a teacher where she set network records with her NWEA MAP Assessment scores in kindergarten and first grade. She later was promoted to Dean of Curriculum where she trained and grew teachers to even higher levels of performance as they internalized new curricula, interpreted data, and renovated their instructional practices.
Kyndran believes a significant component of her school’s success is the practice of Mindfulness and meditation that helps students navigate the world around them. One of her favorite quotes is, “If you can hold it in your head, you can hold it in your hand” by Bob Proctor, which contributes to her mission of helping all staff, students, and families envision and achieve the life of their dreams.
Over the past 7 years, Kyndran has worked alongside her former principal, Raine Hackler, to build a school where students, on average, perform 1-2 grade levels above their peers across the nation. With her vast knowledge of curriculum and instruction, MSA-Spartanburg was named a National Blue Ribbon School in 2019 and is one of the highest performing schools in the state.
