At which MSS campus do you teach?
Meeting Street – Jasper & Beaufort
Why did you decide to be a teacher?
I became a teacher to be that change in my community. Growing up in one of the toughest areas in Palm Beach County, Florida, I can remember there wasn’t a huge emphasis on education/ homework etc. As I moved around the United States, I realized that in neighborhoods just like I grew up in, the same thing was happening. Lack of an emphasis on education. I always thought to myself that there has to be change, no matter what area I ended up teaching in.
Why do you choose to stay in the classroom?
I enjoy seeing my students grow each day. They learn from me and I learn from them.
What is the most challenging part of being a teacher?
The most challenging part I believe is assuring that all of my students are getting the differentiated learning that they need in order for them to be successful.
What is the most rewarding part of being a teacher?
The most rewarding part of teaching is knowing that I have a positive impact on young lives. They are our future.
Why did you choose to teach at Meeting Street Schools?
I chose meeting street schools because of their mission statement… That all children deserve an excellent education regardless of their geographic or socioeconomic circumstances.
What makes Meeting Street Schools different?
Meeting Street Schools focuses on the Whole Child when it comes to education. This sets them apart from many other schools.
If you were to write a letter to yourself during your first year of teaching giving yourself advice, what would you say?
Dear Self, There are many students that will count on you in the future. Sometimes you may be the only adult that gets them. Sometimes you may be the only one in their life that they can vent and relate to. On days when you feel like giving up. think about all of the lives that you have and will impact in the future. You can be that change. YOU ARE that CHANGE!

“We come into work everyday truly believing that our students are capable of achieving anything that is put in front of them. Here at MSS, students are provided the opportunity to achieve success through the facilitation of well-educated teachers, resources, and a responsive classroom school environment.”
“MSA is a family. Once you’re in, you’re in. They said they would follow our kids from K-3 to college and they actually lived up to what they said they would do. Not only did MSA challenge my daughter academically but it also exposed her to new things that she probably wouldn’t have been exposed to at our previous neighborhood school. Our journey at MSA was exciting and rewarding. They actually walk the walk.”
