Kindergarten
Your child must be at least 5 years old by Sept. 1.
1st Grade
Your child must be at least 6 years old by Sept. 1.
Enroll in Kindergarten – 8th Grade
How To Enroll
New Students
You are a new student if:
- You are new to the district.
- You previously attended Charleston County School District but are returning after separation (withdrawal) from the school.
- You are enrolling in kindergarten pre-K for the first time but did not attend our pre-K program as a four-year old.
Required Documents
You’ll need the following information to complete the application or enrollment forms.
Birth Certificate/Proof of Age
Provide one of the following documents:
- Birth certificate
- Passport — With name and date of birth
- Hospital or physician certificate — Showing date of birth
- Adoption records
- Driver’s license
- Learner’s permit
Certificate of Immunization
Provide your child’s South Carolina Certificate of Immunization.
Notarized Affidavit of Residency
This document is used to verify your residency and mailing address. Please print this form and send it to us via email or mail.

Residency Verification Documents
You will need to provide two documents to verify your residency.
Proof of Residency
Provide one of the following Category I documents.
- Signed and dated current lease
- Signed and dated current leaseMost recent real property tax bill
- Copy of the ratified contract for purchase with the date of closing
- Copy of the ratified contract for construction
Proof of Official Mailing Address
Provide one of the following Category II documents.
- Electric or gas bill
- Water bill
- Phone bill — Not a cell phone
- Cable or internet bill
- Car registration — Not a driver’s license
- Pay stub — Must show employer’s name and name and address of the parent/legal guardian
- Local, state, or federal agency correspondence — e.g., Social Security, Medicaid, DSS, IRS, food stamps, court documents, etc. Document must have the name and address of the parent/legal guardian
Parent/Guardian Photo ID
A valid photo ID includes a government-issued driver’s license or passport.
Ready to Enroll?
Returning Students
You are a returning student if:
You were enrolled in one of our grades during the previous school year.
Required Documents
Parents will use their existing ParentPortal account to update information as needed.
Residency Verification Document
Provide one of the following documents.
- Electric or gas bill
- Water bill
- Phone bill — Not a cell phone
- Cable or internet bill
- Car registration — Not a driver’s license
- Pay stub — Must show employer’s name and name and address of the parent/legal guardian
- Local, state, or federal agency correspondence — e.g., Social Security, Medicaid, DSS, IRS, food stamps, court documents, etc. Document must have the name and address of the parent/legal guardian

Transfer Students
You are a transfer student if:
You are transferring from another public school in Charleston County School District.
