More than 100 Meeting Street Schools students and their family members explored on Tuesday some of the Lowcountry’s best middle and high school options.
The opportunity exemplified how the network prepares students for a successful future.
“Meeting Street Schools wants students to achieve now and go on to excellent middle and high schools, then college,” said Kathleen King, director of alumni services for Meeting Street Schools. “Students deserve the opportunity to choose where they want to go, and this event exposes students to high-quality options they might not previously have considered.”
Meeting Street Schools aims for each of its students to enroll in an academically exceptional environment, and students earned $1.2 million in new scholarships to private schools this school year.
The network has more than 70 partner schools that actively recruit and enroll its students. Fourteen prestigious public and private schools attended the event, including: Charleston County School of the Arts, Charleston Day School, Cristo Rey High School, Green Charter School of the Lowcountry, Early College High School, Charleston Collegiate School, Crown Leadership Academy, Charleston Charter School for Math and Science, Military Magnet Academy, Allegro Charter School of Music, Summerville Preparatory Academy, Lowcountry Leadership Charter School, Academic Magnet High School, and Mevers School of Excellence
At the event, current Meeting Street Schools students met alumni and learned about the curriculum, extracurricular activities and scholarships that are available to them.
“We heard so many quality, authentic and engaging conversations, and we’re excited to see where our students go next,” said Courtney Curtis, alumni transition coordinator.
