The Credit One Charleston Open, North America’s premier women’s-only tennis event, has announced the selection of Meeting Street Schools as its charity partner.
Meeting Street Schools is a groundbreaking network of four South Carolina schools with a mission of “empowering children with the excellent, life-changing education they deserve.”
The tournament selected this nonprofit organization because of the transformative opportunities it provides hard-working students, said Bob Moran, president of Beemok Sports & Entertainment.
“We’re proud to officially recognize the exceptional educators and the dedicated students and families who are part of Meeting Street Schools,” Moran said. “Our award-wining tournament attracts players from across the globe, and this partnership will expand students’ worldview through interactions with these athletes. Not only will we welcome student to Daniel Island to experience world-class tennis, but we also will bring some of these top players to their neighborhoods and classrooms, creating meaningful connections and inspiring the next generation.”
Meeting Street Schools and the Credit One Charleston Open both are part of the Beemok portfolio, a collection of businesses and organizations that strive to make the Lowcountry and beyond a better place to live, work and play.
This new partnership celebrates both organizations’ shared commitment to excellence and to enhancing the Charleston community. The designation as the tournament’s charity partner highlights one of the Charleston community’s most invaluable assets – its schools, said Josh Bell, president of Beemok Education, which includes Meeting Street Schools.
“We’re honored for this opportunity to showcase the incredible work happening in Meeting Street Schools,” Bell said. “Education is one of the most powerful ways we can uplift our communities, and Meeting Street Schools is one of the ways we’re changing the landscape of education in South Carolina.”
As the official charity partner, Meeting Street Schools will benefit from direct support, enhanced visibility and unique student experiences, including on-court opportunities, athlete visits and funding for classroom libraries and enrichment programs.
During the tournament, one of the initiatives Meeting Street Schools will highlight is its new Teaching Fellows program, which is open for applications for the 2025-26 school year.
The Teaching Fellows program is a leadership development opportunity for ambitious recent graduates who want to make a difference through education. Graduates with a bachelor’s degree in any major are encouraged to apply.
Additionally, Meeting Street Schools will be featured in ways such as:
- Student experiences: Students will have the unique opportunity to walk onto the courts alongside professional players and be honored for their achievements. Field trips sponsored by DXC Technology also will ensure students have the chance to watch top-tier tennis in person.
- Teacher recognition: Educators will participate in the ceremonial pre-match coin flip.
- Community impact: Proceeds from the pre-tournament’s Pro-Am will be used to create libraries in all Meeting Street Schools’ classrooms so students are surrounded with engaging books that foster a love of reading. Money also will be used to increase enrichment experience in schools so students can explore new passions, such as music and yoga.
“This is more than just a partnership; it’s an opportunity to inspire,” Moran said. “For students to step onto the same courts as world-class athletes and see firsthand the power of perseverance and excellence is truly special. These moments can ignite lifelong aspirations.”
